Families across Palm Beach County will see changes to school meal programs when the 2026-27 school year begins on Aug. 10, according to an announcement from Palm Beach County School District Food and Nutrition Services.
While most district-operated schools will continue providing free breakfast and lunch to all students, meal costs will apply at certain campuses.
District officials said families with students attending schools that no longer qualify for universal free meals may submit applications for free and reduced-price meal benefits beginning in mid-July.
Eligibility is based on household income and family size. Parents and guardians of students at 55 schools in the district are expected to complete an application if they wish to be considered for meal assistance.
What’s Changing
Under the updated meal program, the following prices will apply at schools where meals are not offered free to all students:
- Breakfast: $2.50
- Elementary and K-8 lunch: $3.50
- Middle and high school lunch: $3.75
- Reduced-price breakfast: 30 cents
- Reduced-price lunch: 40 cents The district said meal service will continue at all district-operated schools and participating charter schools.
Families can check their child’s school status through the district’s Food and Nutrition Services website.
