The Mom Edit: Jupiter Mom Jenna Barsky on Birthdays, Balance and Letting Go

By | November 2, 2026

Meet the moms who make our community shine. The Mom Edit gets personal with local moms about motherhood, family life and everything in between — from their must-have parenting hacks and favorite traditions to their coffee order, guilty pleasures and the little things that keep them going. Real moms. Real life. A little fun along the way.

Jupiter mom and former child life therapist Jenna Barsky is the proud momma to three girls — Olivia, Saylah and Willow — whom she shares with her husband of 18 years, Sam. As the busy mom to three active young ladies, her days are filled with ballet, homeschooling duties and running a very busy household filled with laughter and making memories. She opens up about what’s currently saving her sanity, what she’s learned since becoming a momma and what her favorite Palm Beach Gardens spot is.

What does a typical morning look like in your house: organized and out the door, or controlled chaos?

Typically, our school mornings are organized, as all my girls have different schedules. This leaves me with one-on-one time for each of my girls. I have one high schooler, one child that I homeschool and one other who is in elementary school. I will say that not all days are organized… some are controlled chaos. That is what keeps me on my toes.

What’s one parenting hack you swear by?

Not every battle is a battle worth having. This is something that my mother shared with me. I have constantly reminded myself and my husband of this statement. I think as parents, we are always trying to teach a lesson or make things right for our children. Sometimes, you just gotta let things play out.

What’s something you said you’d never do as a mom… and now totally do?

The famous parent quote, “Because I said so.”

What’s your favorite way to spend an unscheduled Saturday with your family?

For me, it’s just about spending time together. No matter what it is. I love taking a moment to go for a family walk or picnic dinner on the beach, a pool day at Mimi and Poppi’s house or just sitting on the couch watching a movie together.

What family tradition (no matter how big, small or silly) do you hope your kids always remember?

I hope they remember how special I tried to make their birthdays. Celebrating the day that they were born is an extremely important day to me. This is a core memory for me growing up. Birthdays were always treated like a very special day. It was important to me to continue that tradition.

What’s your go-to dinner when you have absolutely no idea what to make?

Ha ha, not sure if it’s a go-to dinner or just what my children always want/like, but pasta, pasta, pasta! Breakfast for dinner is always a good one in our house — a breakfast burrito for the win.

What’s currently saving your sanity?

What is currently saving my sanity is my time working out at Orange Theory. It is hard to find the time for just “you,” but it is so important. It certainly got easier as my children got older.

What’s the funniest or most memorable thing your child has said or done lately?

This is a hard one to pinpoint. All three of my girls are at a different developmental stage. Each week they bring me a new funny or memorable moment.

What’s something you’ve learned to let go of since becoming a mom?

This has been a hard one to let go of, and it is still a work in progress. Trying to help, guide and fix all the things that my girls go through. The heartache, the fights with friends, the tough decisions, etc. Stepping back and realizing that they need to make mistakes to grow and learn was, and still is, tough at times.

How do you make time for yourself when life gets busy?

This is still a work in progress for me. I have found that making that time for yourself is so very important. Whether it is getting your nails done, going to the gym, etc., it is YOUR time. For me, that time is when I go and exercise. Some days are more difficult than others, but I have found that if I take/make that time, I am a better mommy. I am a happier, more patient and relaxed mommy to my children and husband, ha! Getting that moment to yourself matters; it’s important.

What’s your favorite local Jupiter/Gardens spot to take the kids?

My favorite Jupiter/Gardens spot would be all the many places we have for children and families to go. Pottery painting, mini golf, ice cream, beach, candle making — so many amazing spots here to go and explore!

Where do you go when you get a rare kid-free afternoon or evening?

What I do versus what I would like to do… Usually, if I get that moment, I want to come home and play catch-up. Whether it is a room that I have started to clean out or just all the many things that us moms must do in a day’s work. What I would like to do is go and get a massage. Have a pampered spa day!

What’s one thing you hope your children learn from watching you?

To never give up. To keep trying. It’s okay to make mistakes. Be the best version of you! To always be kind to those around you. I hope they see how important family is, for so many reasons. To always go with your gut — usually, it is always right (especially us mommas). Treasure the moments we have together.
