How the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation Advances STEM, Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship

By | July 27, 2026

The future doesn’t belong to those who wait for it. It belongs to those who build it.

That belief is at the heart of the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation.

A Legacy Rooted in Courage and Resilience

Founded in 1992, the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation honors the legacy of two extraordinary men: William John Stiles, a World War II fallen soldier, and William Nicholson, a survivor of a German prisoner of war camp. Their stories of courage, resilience and determination continue to inspire the Foundation’s work more than three decades later.

Today, under the leadership of Chairman and Founder David Nicholson, the Foundation is focused on a simple but ambitious goal: creating opportunities that empower people to achieve extraordinary things. The Stiles-Nicholson Foundation believes education, innovation and entrepreneurship are the keys to preparing the next generation for this rapidly evolving world.

Investing in STEM and AI Innovation

The Foundation invests in STEM education, artificial intelligence, robotics, engineering and hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity and innovation. Through partnerships with the Palm Beach County School District, the FAU Stiles-Nicholson STEM Teacher Academy, FIRST Robotics and The Benjamin School’s Stiles-Nicholson Innovation Center, students are gaining access to opportunities that help them become the innovators, inventors and leaders of tomorrow.

Improving Educational Outcomes Through Technology

Improving educational outcomes is another major focus. The Foundation recently helped bring Khanmigo, Khan Academy’s AI-powered tutor, to students and teachers throughout Palm Beach County. By leveraging emerging technologies, the Foundation seeks scalable solutions that help students learn more effectively and educators maximize their impact.

Fostering Financial Literacy for Life

Financial literacy is equally important. The Foundation believes every student should graduate with a basic understanding of budgeting, saving, investing, credit and wealth creation. Through partnerships with organizations such as Next Gen Personal Finance and Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast, students are gaining practical skills that can create a lifetime of opportunity and financial independence.

Cultivating Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise

Entrepreneurship and free enterprise are also central to the Foundation’s mission. Throughout history, entrepreneurs have driven innovation, created jobs and strengthened communities. The Foundation supports organizations such as Young America’s Foundation, the Foundation for Economic Education and the Independent Institute, while also investing in local initiatives like the Children’s Entrepreneur Market in Jupiter. There, young entrepreneurs create products, develop business plans and sell directly to customers, learning firsthand how ideas become businesses.

Thinking Big to Create Lasting Impact

What makes the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation unique is its willingness to think big. The Foundation seeks out visionary leaders, bold ideas and high-impact opportunities capable of creating lasting change. Rather than simply funding programs, it invests in initiatives that empower people, expand opportunity and strengthen communities.
