The 2027–28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is now available for students planning to attend college or career and trade schools between July 1, 2027, and June 30, 2028.

The FAFSA is used to determine eligibility for federal financial aid, including potential Pell Grant eligibility.

According to Federal Student Aid, the new FAFSA forms are processed immediately, and applicants can receive their results like Pell Grant eligibility in seconds after submitting. In the past, it took one to three days to receive results.

Students can then review their FAFSA Submission Summary and their information will be sent to the schools they selected.

Federal Student Aid also says the new form can take less than 15 minutes to complete.

Students who submitted a 2027–28 FAFSA during the early testing period do not need to submit another form.

Families can complete or review the FAFSA through Federal Student Aid. Students and parents should also make sure their email address is current in their StudentAid.gov account to receive FAFSA reminders.
