As we all know, winter in Florida usually means that we can finally start wearing light jackets outside. Not only is it the perfect season to get outside since we won’t immediately break into a sweat, it’s also the perfect time to get involved in your community. Here are four free things you and your kids can do in Jupiter this season.

Have a family picnic

Picnics mean good food, nice weather and great company. Get you and your family together and go to one of Jupiter’s nature parks. Don’t shy away from the water just because it’s winter – an oceanfront park will provide you and your family an extra refreshing breeze, but be sure to bundle up! Pack your family’s favorite food into the perfect picnic basket and enjoy.

Visit a wildlife sanctuary

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is another great way to get outside and enjoy the cooler weather while spending time with your family. Your kiddos will love seeing the animals and learning about Florida’s natural wildlife. The cost of this activity is a donation of your choice, but this sanctuary rescues injured, sick and orphaned animals so you will be supporting its cause.

Go on a family walk or drive to see Christmas lights

Going on a family walk or drive to admire Christmas lights is another free thing to do in Jupiter, or in any city! Many people start decorating their houses as soon as Thanksgiving is over, so you might be able to see some lights in November. This is a wonderful way to spend quality time together and get you and your family in the holiday spirit.

Donate to a food drive

During the holidays, many organizations have food drives where you can donate non-perishable food items to help families in need have food for the holidays. Have your kiddos help you gather non-perishable items from around your house or pick them out at the grocery store. This is the perfect opportunity to teach your children the importance of generosity and giving, not only during the holidays but all year long!
