Although it’s not an official holiday, yet, Feb. 13 has been marked as Galentine’s Day. Similar to Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day is all about celebrating the love you have for the girls in your life. Whether it be your family or friends, Galentine’s Day is exclusively for the girls. As a mom, maybe you want to take time to celebrate with your daughter. Here are a few ideas on how you can spend the day with her:
1. Manicures
It can be your fingernails, toenails or both! Going to get your nails done together is an easy, and relatively cheap, way to feel luxurious. Maybe to celebrate a little more than usual, try getting matching colors.
2. Movie night
After agreeing on something appropriate that you’ll both like, a movie night with popcorn and other treats feels like a treat in itself. Especially if the day lands on a school night, like it does this year.
3. Bake
Baking goodies together is such a fun, and delicious, way to spend quality time with your daughter on Galentine’s Day. Some classic baking staples include cookies, cupcakes, brownies or anything you can dress up to celebrate the holiday with. Let’s face it, everything looks cuter when it’s cut into the shape of a heart and covered in pink sprinkles.
4. Crafting
While it may need more setup than the others, crafting is a cute way to remember the day you two spent together. After perusing online for ideas, head to the craft store to grab all you will need so when the time comes, you two can jump right into it. Even if it’s a typical craft like homemade stained glass hearts, making it together is half the fun.
5. Iconic waffles and whipped cream breakfast
Inspired by the show the holiday came from, you can’t go wrong with waffles and whipped cream for breakfast (or dinner). And in the true spirit of Parks and Recreation, be sure to add a whole lot of whipped cream on top.
